Well known journalist Dr Sarjoo Katkar written short story ‘Hoovakka’ is ‘Hoovi’ for Kannada screen. The village people going for safety in the drought situation are part of the story. What happens to a portion of people who go to city is interesting turn in ‘Hoovakka’.

Producer Arundhathi with her family and friends is investing on this film. ‘Yee dharani Mele Nadhthiro Shoshane’ touched me to take up this film stated Smt Arundhathi.

Hoovi hero is Santosh who has acted in films like Abhirami Anathana and Ishta Kannada films. He is happy because his teacher Vishal Raj is the director. He is speaking the Uttar Kannada style of Kannada in Channa role in the film.

Vishal Ray a teacher in Adarsha Film institute is taking up a film after ‘Shivani’. He has also directed ‘Micnchu’ with Dr Siddanth (AK 56 and Chatrapathi hero). This is a bridge cinema according to him.

The story demanded a senior actress like Pooja Gandhi. We are shooting in Desanur village that 25 kilometer away from Belgaum and rest of the portions will be done in Bangalore. It is a 40 days schedule. Vishal Raj shared the screenplay credit with producer Arundhathi and every scene is informed to writer Dr Sarjoo Katkar a senior scribe of Express Publications Belgaum.
